How to use Public Transport in Strasbourg – CTS system, tickets, and discounts

Strasbourg is a real eco-friendly city: here you can forget about your car, and rely on your bike or the awesome and super easy public transport system run by CTS, which includes trams, buses, and even night services.

Spoiler alert! BEFORE boarding any tram, make sure to have your ticket, as there are no on-board sales available. You can purchase on board buses.

Where can you Buy Tickets?

All tickets are equal for each means of transport.

  • At CTS ticket machines (located at tram stops)
  • Via the CTS mobile app (“CTS Strasbourg”)
  • At tabacs (newsagents with a CTS sign)
  • Online: cts-strasbourg.eu

CTS provides the BADGEO card, a personal rechargeable transport card used on the CTS network in Strasbourg. It’s the easiest way to travel regularly on trams, buses, and coaches in the Eurometropole. It allows you to

  • Load monthly or annual subscriptions
  • Add tickets (like single rides, 10-ride packs, etc.)
  • Use it as a pass for unlimited travel during your chosen time period
  • Register it with your name — so you can replace it if lost

  • CTS Boutiques (like the one at Homme de Fer)
  • Online at cts-strasbourg.eu
  • It costs €5 for the physical card

How to Recharge It

  • Use ticket machines at tram stops
  • Use the CTS mobile app
  • Recharge online via your personal account
  • Or top up at a partner store or CTS counter
  • If you’re under 26, a student, or planning to stay a while, you should get one in order to benefit from the Student offer (university students under 28): with 28€ per month you can travel as much as you like around Strasbourg!

For Single Ride (1 hour, with or without connections):

  • €2.50 – Purchased directly on the bus
  • €2.10 – Contactless ticket (first purchase)
  • €1.90 – Loaded on Badgéo card, CTS App, or topped up on contactless ticket 

For 2 Rides (for one person):

  • €3.80 – Contactless ticket (first purchase)
  • €3.60 – Loaded on Badgéo card, CTS App, or topped up on contactless ticket 

For 10 Rides (for one person):

  • €17.30 – Contactless ticket (first purchase)
  • €17.10 – Loaded on Badgéo card, CTS App, or topped up on contactless ticket
